Stand For Others

Today’s Monday Mindset: Stand For Others
When I was in high school, I played on our soccer team.
Anytime we went to away games, all the players sat on the back of the bus except one, his name was Jamie.
And he sat towards the front with the coaches because the players at the back used to make fun of him and say, “Don’t come back here. We don’t want to sit near you.”
He was a little awkward and probably wasn’t as skilled as everyone else, and that was enough for others to be really cruel to Jamie.
One day I got on the bus, and as I was passing him by, I thought, “Do you know what? I’m not going to pass him by. I’m going to sit down and join him.”
I didn’t join the others when they were making fun of him, but I was still a bystander and it’s not good enough to be a bystander.
So I decided to join him and some of the guys even started making fun of me.
From that day on every bus trip, I sat with Jamie and I chose to be his friend, and I realized he was actually a really nice guy and they weren’t giving him a fair chance.
My challenge to you is who can you stand for today, wherever it may be in your school with a team, in a work environment, there’s always those who need somebody to be their ally, to take a stand for them and with them, even if it means facing ridicule yourself.
My challenge is be willing to stand for others.
Put that into practice. That’s your Monday Mindset.
