Beware of “great plays.” Great plays, or the attempt to make great plays, are what make good players mediocre. Ignore fancy and value fundamental. Make the smart play, not the hard one. Don’t go crazy when simple will work just fine.
Monday Mindset: Keep on Digging
So I don’t have a good news story…yet. And yet can be a powerful word when you need to exhibit resilience or grit in whatever it is in your life. Whatever it is in life, when things get tough, you got to build that grit and resilience muscle like I’m doing right now.

I’ve been coaching in some capacity (various sports and levels) since 1996 and have been teaching and coaching since 2005. I was drawn to PGC because of the culture. The basketball stuff is amazing, but it’s the leadership and mentality training that’s truly impacted my life (and those around me).
3-Point Play: On defense, doing less, and mental toughness
Mental toughness is not something you just have on game day. It’s a habit of mind that becomes a part of your pride and your self image. It’s something you carry with you everywhere. Patience in traffic, attentiveness in class, and nobility on the practice floor.
Monday Mindset: Be an Amazing Human Being
What I loved was their heart for helping somebody they didn’t even know in our community. There wasn’t a reward. There wasn’t going to be any benefit other than knowing they were able to help somebody else.
3-Point Play: On tough shots, relationships, and understanding success.
Forget tough lay-ups and fade-aways. They don’t help you win games.In fact, they help the other team beat you. Get balanced. Balance is better.
Monday Mindset: When Fear Strikes
If there’s something you’ve been holding back from taking an action step on due to a lack of courage, just know that everything you do is always building a muscle that’s helping you or hurting you.
