Today’s Monday Mindset: Your Cheat Code to Success
Welcome to your Monday Mindset, where you discover how to be your best so you can give your best.
The principle I’m about to share with you is pure gold, it’s an absolute cheat code for success in your life.
You don’t have to change your habits, you don’t have to change your environment, you just have to do this one thing and it’ll propel you towards success, possibly more than anything else.
It comes from Harvard researcher, Dr. David McClelland, who determined that we become the average of the five people we spend the most time with.
In other words, if you spend the most time with those who don’t take care of their bodies, you won’t likely take care of your body. If you spend the most time with five people who are broke, you’ll be broke. If you spend time with five people who are unhappy, you’ll become unhappy. If you spend the most time with five people who don’t have a job in short time you won’t have a job, possibly.
The research shows we become like the five people we spend the most time with.
So if you’re an athlete, if you’re a coach, a parent looking to be a better parent, if you want to accumulate greater levels of financial freedom and independence, if you want to be healthier, you have to take a look at each area of your life and think, am I spending time with people that I admire, look up to or want to be more like. Or are the people that I’m spending my time with actually hindering me and pulling me back from being who I want to be. In other words, build your squad. There’s nothing you can do that’s more impactful than building your squad.
Two questions for you to ask yourself:
- Are the people you admire the people you’re spending your time with?
- If you’re not, are you willing to make changes so you start to spend more time with the people you want to be like?
Ask yourself those two questions and put this into practice today.
