Today’s Monday Mindset: How Coachable Are You
Presented by: Mano Watsa, President of PGC Basketball Camps
You can’t escape it.
Everywhere you go, people are gonna have thoughts on what you do and what you say. Whether it’s school and teachers, sports and coaches, whether it’s relationships – others are gonna have opinions on what we do.
And you can choose to ignore it. You can choose to get defensive if people offer feedback…
…but what I found to be more beneficial is when you just welcome feedback.
You can accept what you think you can take from it and reject what you can’t. But if you reject all feedback, you won’t grow not nearly as much as you can or should.
I’ve coached our staff into just taking on the perspective that there’s a hint of truth in every comment, in every piece of feedback that we receive.
And what I attempt to do is instead of getting defensive, just think, “okay, what is there for me to learn from this?”
If you could put this into practice, you’ll become somebody who’s highly coachable.
And anyone who’s highly coachable is gonna be in a position to succeed in anything they do.
So be more coachable. Welcome feedback.
That’s your Monday Mindset.
