Today’s Monday Mindset: Fight for Your Time
All right. I’m just stepping outside here, as I literally just finished this conversation with my kids and thought it would be a helpful Monday Mindset for you.
So here it is, we have to fight for our time. We have to fight to protect our time because there are companies that literally spend and make billions of dollars trying to get you to binge watch, on whatever channel it is, for as long as possible, to get you looking at reel after reel on TikTok, to scrolling through stories on Instagram and Facebook, or binge watch on Netflix. And the reason is, they make billions of dollars in advertisements by keeping you on their channel as long as they possibly can.
You have to fight against it because if you don’t fight against it, they’ll show you more and more of what you love to see. While that can be a good thing at times, it will prevent you from developing the skills you need, from building new relationships that’d be life giving for you, from focusing on you, and from having the maximum impact you can in this world.
My challenge to you is the one I gave my kids, limit yourself and exercise self-restraint every single day. Be mindful of how long you are looking at your phone or whatever device it is for things that are just entertainment or pleasure. Instead, invest time into things that are going to serve you and others over the long term.
Be disciplined with how long you look at things on your phone, computer, or TV, and in doing so, you’ll be setting yourself up for long-term success in life. And that’s your Monday Mindset.
