Who are you Committed to being this Season?
Are you prepared to COMMIT this Season?
In Part 2 of this 8-week series designed to level up your next season PGC Director Marke Freeman shares four steps preparing you to successfully show up for your team this year.
Average athletes only think about what they can get from a situation or take from an experience. Great basketball players who commit to daily excellence know what they will bring to an experience or environment to serve their team.
WHO CAN WE COUNT ON YOU TO BE EVERY SINGLE DAY THIS BASKETBALL SEASON?
• For your team?
• For your teammates?
• For your coaches?
IS IT SPIRIT?
Are you going to bring an uncomfortable amount of spirit every single day in basketball practice to increase the intensity level and ensure your teammates are getting the most out of every opportunity?
IS IT HUSTLE?
Are you going to be the first in the gym? The first to get started in competition? The first to get dressed and ready to go? Are you going to maximize every single rep at game speed?
IS IT SERVICE?
How are you going to serve your teammates this season? Will you rebound for them before or after practice? Will you give them a ride if they need it? Can you be there for them when they need an ear or conversation or advice? Will you give them encouragement when they’re going through a slump or dealing with something off-court?
1. COMMIT TO IT
Once you’ve made your commitment, remember to do these next steps:
2. WRITE IT DOWN
Write your commitment down. Don’t put in the drawer of your nightstand or shove it underneath your bed. Review it daily to remind yourself who you are committed to being.
3. REVIEW IT DAILY
Review it daily to remind yourself who you are committed to being, every day this season.
4. SHARE IT
Share it with someone you trust and who will hold you accountable: a coach, a peer, a family member. That person will need to hold you accountable and not just when you are doing well but also when you start falter a bit. We all know it is very hard to be at your best every single day and every once in a while we may need a reminder.
